Many schools throughout Western New York have a Mid-Winter Recess the week of Presidents Day. "The essential to budget travel is to prepare onward. All the early bird specials back in October and November have long past and with the craziness of the holiday season who has time to plan a trip?

Your local Tightwad Tourist has managed to come up with a family of four vacation to sunny Florida at Universal Studios! And the budget for travel, excluding food, spending money and vehicle rental (if you would rather not use the shuttle) is $2000.00. Cant be done? Check out this trip!

Southwest.com is showing a web fare of $74.00 leaving from Buffalo, NY to Orlando, Florida on Tuesday February 22, 2011. The returning flight from Orlando to Buffalo on Sunday February 27th, 2011 is $99.00. Airfare for a family of four is roughly $700.00 total.

Next, the hotel. And not just any hotel, but at the Nickelodeon Hotel. Stay for five nights in the Oasis two bedroom kids suite king bed with bunk beds. Booking with the non-refundable advanced purchase rate the room runs about $105 a night . The rough total on the hotel stay is $710.00.

The Universal theme park tickets bought online for a family of four will cost approximately $600.00 and that is access to the park for four days. By buying online, Universal gives you $150.00 in coupons to use during the stay.

There you have it! Approximately $2000.00 will get you some fun in the sun. There are other hotels available and some run cheaper that the Nickelodeon hotel, but that one certainly looked like the most fun! If this trip looks interesting, book soon as some rates will expire because they are advance purchase deals.
