A benefit to raise funds for a headstone for rider, Mike Fowler, will be held Saturday, April 23, from 3:00 pm to closing at Harley's Pub, 905 Barksdale Blvd in Bossier City. Mike was in an accident in November on Old Moorinsport Road and Ravensport. An apparant inattentive driver, pulled out in front of Mike who had his wife, Erin, on the back of the bike. "The key to budget travel is to approach onward. When it comes to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved vacations and/or going to see new places we have never been before, the reality of expense and budgeting is generally in the back of our mind. Organizing and spending our travel budget properly is a main concern for most families. Reducing expending and prices, while still enjoying your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed success and fiscal responsibility. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thought regarding protecting money while traveling is simple: Even if your personal budget is incredibly tight, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also thinking about that while traveling, whether on a finances or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a big vacation or travel bill!..". Erin suffered severe injuries, but is recovering well, and making a difference in the motorcycle community by promoting motorcycle safety. She is working to get education in schools to get to our youngest drivers and implore them to watch out for motorcycles.
Whether the cause is inattentive driver, rider error, choice to wear a helmet or not, an object in the road to be avoided, or so many other possibilities is mute when a life is lost. As riders, we can only mourn, try to understand the causal effects of the accident, rally to make ourselves seen by motorists and thus safer, become involved in motorcycle related legislation, take an advanced rider course, and do our best to avoid the same fate. This tight knit community understands the inherent risks associated with our chosen lifestyle, but it doesn't make it any easier when our losses are so great.
The benefit will include an auction, live music, crawfish, brisket, sausage. Crawfish plate is $10, sausage or brisket $5. There's plenty of bike parking, and extended parking for cages (4 wheeled vehicles).
This is a great opportunity for the motorcycle community in Shreveport and Bossier to get together for a common cause and enjoy the company of each other. Harley's is an all colors pub, and asks that guests show respect.
