Gig Gwin, a member of the exclusive Century Club for individuals who have visited every country of the world, recently completed a fabulous trip that included a stay at Villa dEste, considered by most the worlds 1 hotel, and travel on the legendary Orient Express. The Beginning
Flying into Milan, Gig and his wife Terrie were welcomed to the magnificent Ville dEste property north of Milan, overlooking beautiful Lake Como and surrounded by 25 acres of lush gardens. Built in 1568, the villa was originally the playground of European aristocrats, and was transformed into a 152-room luxury hotel in 1873.Villa dEste is known world-wide for its extraordinary cuisine and pampering service. Guests can dine on a terrace overlooking breathtaking Lake Como, swim in a warm water pool within the lake or another pool on the property, play tennis or lounge on one of the hotels many verandas

Leaving the hotel one day, Gig and Terrie traveled to the picturesque village of Bellagio on the shores of the peaceful lake. There they enjoyed a meal of Lake Como perch and risotto, two local delicacies the region is noted for, complemented by a crisp Italian white wine. The essential to budget travel is to prepare onward. When it occurs to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved trips and/or going to see new spots we have never been before, the reality of expense and budgeting is generally in the back of our mind.
