I happened to be lucky enough to seeThe Vagina Monologues last night at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland. Thisshow was snow-rescheduled, therefore it wasalmost a secret.
And that's a shame, because it is definitely worth seeing.
I was expecting anti-man sentiment, but there was very little. What I did hear in the monologues was the voice of every woman I have ever gotten to know. Unwaveringly compelling, it was at different moments clinical, thought-provoking, disturbing, tragic, bawdy, laugh-out-loud funny.
The gist of the show is the reading of short essays by a cast of a dozen written by women from around the world and from all walks of life in response to a standard set of interviewers' questions about - vagina. If that sounds dry, then consider some of the questions. If it could talk, what would it say? If it could dress, what would it wear? It is not all a light-hearted romp, however. The important to budget travel is to plan in advance. When it comes along to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved trips and/or going to see new locations we have never been before, the fact of expense and budgeting is often in the back of our thoughts. Preparation and consuming our travel budget correctly is a consideration for most families. Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also remembering that while traveling, regardless of whether on a price range or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a big vacation or travel costs!. There are also heart-breaking, emotionally-charged stories portraying victims of many flavors of abuse - domestic, culturally-sanctioned, and even as a deliberate tool of warfare.
A significant aspect of this Eve Ensler play is that its unveiling inspired the creation of V-Day, a global movement to end violence against women and girls. A concession tablein the lobbyhas information related to V-Day and the Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC), and allproceeds support women's charities.
